All Yak T’el Aether locations in FFXIV Dawntrail

In the game Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail, there’s a beautiful place called Yak T’el. It’s split into two parts: a thick jungle up top and a dark, mysterious area down below.

After you can fly in two other areas (Urqopacha and Kozama’uka), you’ll get to Yak T’el. You’ll see a big cliff and might want to fly down into the darkness. But first, you need to collect special things called Aether Currents.

There are 15 Aether Currents to find:

  • 10 you can find using a special compass
  • 4 you get from doing side quests (these open up after you do a certain main story quest)
  • 1 you get from doing the main story

Don’t worry if it seems hard – I can help you learn to fly in this area!

Yak T’el Aether Locations in the map

At first, you can only find some of the Aether Currents. These are in the top half of the Yak T’el map.

Because of this, I’ll tell you about the Aether Currents in two parts:

  1. The ones in the top half, which you can get right away
  2. The ones in the bottom half, which you can get later as you play more of the main story

This way, it’s easier to understand which Aether Currents you can find now, and which ones you’ll be able to find later.

Side quests

There are 4 special tasks (we call them side quests) that give you Aether Currents. You can’t do all of these right away. They become available two at a time after you finish certain parts of the main story.

So, as you play through the main story:

  • At one point, you’ll be able to do 2 of these side quests
  • Later, you’ll be able to do the other 2

This means you need to keep playing the main story to unlock all of these special tasks.

MSQ quests

The last Aether Current you need comes from the main story. To get this one and be able to fly:

  1. Keep playing the main story
  2. You’ll get to a task called ‘Road to the Golden City’
  3. This task is for players at level 95
  4. When you finish this task, you’ll get the last Aether Current

After you do this, you’ll have all the Aether Currents and can start flying in Yak T’el!
